Thanksgiving at the Swindlehursts

Well, to those of you who were absent (which was many, I might add...what gives?) the SoCal Thanksgiving at the Swindlehursts was smash! Those present from the E.H. Tippets clan were The Swindlehursts (of course, minus that Super Sister missionary Ashley), The Sawyers (minus Kelly & fam) & the T.N. Tippets (minus Carrie & fam.) I tried to sing the Pumpkin Pie song, but since I was thinking of the wrong tune, it didn't go very far. Maybe next time. The food was great (along with the fabulous new tradition,I hope, of toasted gourmet holiday-flavored-marshmallows around their new fire pit in their new gorgeous back yard.) The post-dishes Christmas caroling was small to say the least, but the faithful trio carried on that tradition. (And no, Santy did not come to Shanty Town this year.) Here we are around the piano. Hope all your Thanksgivings were tasty & fun!

Fun Times

What a great idea to start a Tippets 2nd generation blog! I thought about all of our fun traditions this Thanksgiving and missed my cousins so much! I even missed Aunt Pam's pumpkin pie song ;) "Oh beautiful, for pumpkin pie, and amber waves of cream...." We were truely blessed to grow up with such a great extended family. I hope we can all get together sooner than later. Here's our latest addition, Boedy, who is now just a tiny bit over 2 months old now. The first month and a half of motherhood was hard, but I am loving it a lot more now. He smiles a lot now and interacts with his mom and dad with little coos and it's so cute. This is a picture of him at his grandma and grandpa Jack's house on Thanksgiving day. Sorry about the sideways picture...I forgot to rotate it before I imported it...or maybe I just wanted all of you to get some good neck exercise!

Yoo Hoo!

Turkey Day is almost upon us, & I'm trying to remember the Pumpkin Pie song. For some reason, I'm always the only one (who didn't marry in) not singing that song come Thanksgiving. Anyhoo, so WAY excited to get the fam' together. As to the happenings of the Easterbrooks, I stopped working at the fabulous Chocolate factory to be a Stay-at-Home Mom to Spencer; now almost 8 months old. Matt's still a Caricature Artist at Magic Mountain on Saturdays & holidays & is hunting for something more "regular." We're both dabbling a bit in the children's book illustration world; hopefully more details to follow. Annie does a little babysitting on the side & will be starting giving piano lessons next week. I've been in Stake Primary for the past few years, & love working with the Baptisms, Nursery & Primary Music. Spencer is a total cutie & has 2 bottom teeth, can crawl (backwards...but we're a little backwards ourselves) & when he gets excited, he may try to bite you. Watch out!

I guess I'll start

My mom reminded me of the "good old days" when we had a family letter--how it was a lot of work--all that writing by hand and photocopying and mailing. And how it just kind of fizzled. Well, we have no excuse. So here's my "family letter."
Mark is enjoying his new job as a Registered Nurse at Northridge Hospital. He's not enjoying working nights, but slowly getting used to it. When he's not sleeping during the day, he's calling everyone in the ward making appointments for Tithing Settlement. I (Carrie) am still working as a sound editor for TV, but work is slow (which is why I have plenty of time to start this blog) and might come to a halt because of the writer's strike. But that might not be so bad because I could stay home with Aurora, who is now fifteen months and on the move! Her new tricks include making animal sounds, pointing to her nose or bellybutton, and hiding food in her bib. She is tons of fun and makes us laugh all the time.

Hellllllloooooooo (imagine that in a high, sing-song voice)

Howdy Family!
We always say we'll do better about staying in touch, but it's time to really do something about it. I've created this blog to make that a little easier. So it's time to toot your own horn--let us know what you are up to--babies, baptisms, missions, weddings, school, jobs, etc.. We'll post information about reunions. But best yet, we'll have a whole lot of family fun. Can't wait to hear from you!
